LoudChat Bluetooth Headset
Senior Capstone Project: Developing mechanical components and selecting critical pieces of a Bluetooth headset for the start up LoudChat. The headset was intended for use on a factory floor, for workers to communicate in a loud environment. Special design considerations include noise cancellation, comfort of wear, compatibility with a hard hat.
User Research
Met with factory workers and read guides on PPE to determine safe decibel levels and safety equipment the headset may need to interface with. Made low fidelity prototypes for user input as well.
Testing
Performed a series of tests on the output level of speaker components, efficacy of noice cancellation features, and comfort of form factors.
Manufacturing
Designed components to be injection molded, then pivoted to 3D printing after the pandemic shut down our manufacturing lab. Utilized features like screws for fastening and ball bearings for microphone mobility
